Biographical Sketch:
Son of Matthew Fitch & Nancy (Seymour) Gregory. Came to Scio twp, Washtenaw Co., MI with them, 1834. He farmed until 1840 when he went into the mercantile business and banking for 15 years. While a banker (C>S> Gregory & Son, Dexter, MI), also ran a flour mill in Dexter for 5 years. Held several local offices, including township treasurer; school inspector; highway commissioner, township clerk, justice of the peace and township supervisor. He was trustee of the Dexter high school for 21 years. He was also trustee-recorder and president of Dexter. He served as president of the Washtenaw COunty Agricultural and Horticultural Society for several years.
Notable Facts:
His grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War for Connecticut.
