Biographical Sketch:
Moved with his family to Crawford Co., PA at age 8. At 18 walked 175 miles to York, NY to attend a better school. Schooled there for 2 years before entering the Middleton Academy. Came to Birmingham, MI, 1845, to study mediciine with his brother, J. P. Gleason, for 2 years, teaching winters to pay expenses. Opened a practice in Chesterfield, Macomb Co., 1848. Moved to Richmond, MI, 1865. Continued to practice medicine while engaging in farming & business.
