Son of Neil & Mary (McLaughlin) Leitch, both descendents of the McDonald clan. Emigrated to the then unsettled area of Dunwich, Elgin Co. Ontario, near the Thames river, 1841; moved to Sanilac Co., MI, 1857; he farmed for many years in Marion, MI. Held many local offices, including supervisor, 8 successive terms as township treasurer, elected justice of the peace in 1884 and school director.
