Biographical Sketch:
Of English descent. Son of Ann (Jeffrey) Morcom. Went to work in the mines of Cornwall from ages 15-19. Emigrated to America & the Lake Superior region, 1854; worked in the copper mines of Keweenaw, 2 yrs; in 1856 he went to Rockland, Ontonagon county, where he served 2 terms as Township Clerk and also was the Supervisor of the township of Carp Lake for 4 years. He also served as Mining Captain and Superintendent in tho copper mines. He moved to Qulnncscc, Menominee county, 1/1/1878. Took charge of the under-ground works of the Quinnesec Iron Mine as Mining Captain. He was appointed Superintendent of Mines in 1882. He was elected Supervisor of the township of Breitung 4 years. He moved to Breitung, MN sometime before 1900.
