Biographical Sketch:
Practiced law in Ypsilanti, Saline and Ann Arbor for more than 25 years. She was a board member with the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce where she was active with that chamber's Women's Council. She ran for the 18th Senate District nomination in the 2010 Democratic primary,but lost. In 2014 she ran for Congress in the 7th District against Tim Walberg but lost.

Speaker Pro Tempore; Chair of the House Transportation Committee; a member of the Regulatory Reform Committee and the Military and Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security Committee and House Committee on New Economy and Quality of Life; Biosciences Subcommittee; former Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education. served on the Washtenaw County Road Commission in 2000, becoming the first female road commissioner in Washtenaw County.
