Biographical Sketch:
Eldest of 5 children of Morgan & Rosetta C. (Brengingstall) Parker. The family moved from Dundee to Petersburgh, MI in 1854. Enlisted, at 17, with his father in Co. F, 1st Reg., Michigan Engineers & Mechanics 10/22/1861. He mustered out in July 1863 due to ill health. He clerked in a dry goods store while studying law. In 1867, he was elected justice of the peace. In May of 1870 he was admitted to the bar. He moved to Monroe, MI, 1876 to practice. Served as mayor, circuit court commissioner and president of the Monroe school board. He was an Indian agent in Fort Peck, Montana in 1884, returning to Monroe in 1886. Appointed special agent of US Treasury by President McKinley and supervising special agent under President Teddy Roosevelt. He was also a deputy land commissioner. He was a member and president of the Monroe County Bar, member of the Monroe GAR Post and the Masons.
