Son of William & Elizabeth (Witter) Park[s]. Of English & Scottish descent. Farmed until 1862 when he enlisted as a 1st Lt., Co. F, 121st Reg. NY Vol. Infantry. Served 9 months. Did some recruiting. On his return he sold his farm; bought a hotel in Burlington twp., NY; sold this 1865 & moved to Wales, MI, 1866. Sold agricultural equipment. 1875 took over operation of the co. poorhouse for a time before returning to his farm. Served as Deputy Co. Sheriff, twp clerk & justice of the piece.
