Biographical Sketch:
Of German/Scottish descent. Son of Leonard & Elizabeth (Montgomery) Sellers. Enlisted in the 21st Pennsylvania cavalry before he was 16. After the war, he farmed for 1 season before turning to printing. He moved to Cedar Springs in 1869, working as a shingle packer until December. Established the Cedar Springs Clipper newspaper with its first issue on Dec. 29, 1869, publishing it for over 50 years. In 1921, he sold his interest in the Clipper and went west for his health.
Notable Facts:
The family's farm was destroyed by Gen. Lee's invasion in 1863.
Witnessed the battle of Gettysburg as a child.
