Son of Samuel Nott & Anna Keeler (West) Warren. Moved to Flint, 1852. Attended State U. in Ann Arbor, 1860. 1862 enlisted in Co. K, 23rd Mich. Inf.; promoted to Sgt.; made 2nd Lt. in 27th Mich. Inf. 2/1863; aid-de-camp with the 36th Mass. Inf., commanding the 1st brigade, 1st div. of the 9th Army Corps. Discharged. Practiced law 1 yr. in Flint; editor of the Wolverine Citizen. 1869 moved to Bay City; bought the Bay City Journal.

Notable Facts:
Started the 1st daily paper in Bay City. Sold it in 1873; soon after purchased the 'Daily Enterprise' in Saginaw; later owned other papers
