Biographical Sketch:
Son of William H. and Harriet P. Youngs. Moved to Montcalm Co., 1853, with his parents. Lived in Greenville 1869-71; Ann Arbor 1872-74. 1869-71, he attended school and taught in the public schools of his county. He was elected Montcalm County Clerk, 1874-78 and became interested in the lumber and shingle business. He was appointed receiver for the US Land Office for 2 years; Postmaster of Stanton for 14 years. He served as state factory inspector; chief clerk of the state labor bureau and supervisor of the 1910 census for the western district of Michigan. He also served on the school board and was supervisor of his city ward. Member of the Odd Fellows and the S.A.R.
