Son of Rev. George S. and Harriet E. (Phelps) Martin. From 1904, he worked in various capacities on the electric railway [interurban]. Train master of the Grand Rapids, Grand Haven and the Muskegon electric railway. He served as school trustee, village president and clerk. He moved to Grand Haven around 1939. Member of Masons and Odd Fellows.
