Biographical Sketch:
Son of Erastus & Hannah (Cobb) Wyllis. Of English ancestry. Lived in Geneseo Co., NY, 1833-38. Moved to Pulaski twp, Jackson Co., MI fall, 1838. Both parents died by 1843. In 1843, attended 1 term at Michigan Central College in Spring Arbor, MI & additional terms later. Taught 20 winters, operated a nursery business for several yrs. & known as an expert on fruit production. He served as school inspector for 9 years and was on the board of education for several years; a justice of the peace for 18 years.
