Biographical Sketch:
Eldest son of Harrison and Minerva (Donaldson) Baker's 10 children. Raised on a farm. He taught school for several winters while going to normal school during the summers of 1880-82. During the winter of 1882, he was principal of a school in Canandaigua, MI. He began studying law in 1883 in the offices of Adolph Sloman of Detroit and later with E.R. Gilday in Monroe; admitted to the bar 1886; practiced law in Carleton, MI and served as county prosecuting attorney. He was a minister from 1894-1921, serving as a Universalist pastor in Sheffield, IL. He later served churches in Wisconsin before going to Kansas. He was a probate judge in Kansas, 1921-32. member of the Odd Fellows, Rotary Club and Modern Woodsmen of America.
