Biographical Sketch:
Son of Zera and Permelia Boynton. He canvassed as an agent for the Michigan State Fire Insurance Co. of Adrian for 1 summer and taught the next winter. Following this he work on his father's farm 2 summers but taught duirng the winter. He bought a farm in Leoni township in spring 1865. In 1874, he built a grist mill in partnership with William A. Watts, known as Boynton Mills. He became sole owner in 1877. He served as township treasurer (3 years) and supervisor.
