Biographical Sketch:
Son of George S. and Nancy (Craighead) Brandon. At age 1 his family moved to Indianapolis, IN but his parents both died during the next 5 years. Young Brandon was taken to Pennsylvania to relatives. He moved to Illinois at 19. He enlisted in the 16th IL infantry 4/26/1861; re-enlisted 3 years later in the 14th IL Infantry and became captain of company E. he later became commissary of substance and general ordinace officer of General Stolbrand's brigade, 17th army corps until mustering out in September, 1865. he settled in Saline, MO in 1866 as a stock farmer but moved to Hamtramck, MI in July 1872 and began manufacturing copperage materials (until 1895) and dealing in real estate. Member of the GAR the Knights Templar and the Loyal Legion
