Biographical Sketch:
Son of Thomas and Mary (Folkner) Egan. His family moved to London, ON in 1852. He apprenticed in the printing business in Sarnia, ON in 1864 and settled in Detroit in 1877. He was a printer with the Detroit Free Press for many years. He was involved in labor organizations. He served as deputy secretary of state and deputy commissioner of labor for several years. He was one of the organizers of the Federation of Labor. Member of the Knights of Labor.
