He served in the Texas National Guard, 111th Engineer Co, 96th div. He moved to Holland, MI in 1950 and was active in his church. He elected president of the State Board of Child and Family Services of Michigan and served on the board of Holland Christian Schools. He was Ottawa County Treasurer, 1972-75. He was a life insurance counselor and a real estate salesman. Member of the Michigan Assoc. of Life Insurance Counselors; Holland Chamber of Commerce; Michigan United Fund, Board of Directors; Kiwanis Club; Christian Reformed Church; Grand Rapids Association of Life Underwriters.
