Biographical Sketch:
Son of Alonzo and Florence (Merriweather) Yates. Moved to Detroit from Arkansas in 1927. He served as State Public Administrator for Wayne County, appointed by Governor Williams. He was a member of the Elks and Masons. Member Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Notable Facts:
Defeated in primary elections in 1946, 1948, 1950 and 1952. Ran in primary elections for U.S. Representative in 1962 and 1964. Died in Michigan; his residence at time of death was Detroit.
