Director of athletics and head coach at DePauw Univ. (Greencastle, IN) for 1 year, Kalamazoo College, Mich. for 7 years. Served in the Army Signal Corps during WWI. Played football for Unuversity of Michigan while training for the Army at the school. Moved to East Lansing in 1923 to be director of athletics at Michigan State University. Administrator of college physical education programs from 1915-1956. State University Assistant track coach US Olympic Assoc. 1932and as assistant treasurer in 1952. Served as charter member of College Football and Track Coaches Association, 1922; Formed the Central Athletic Assoc. (Conference) in 1926 along with Knute Rockne and Conrad Jennings. Stopped coaching in 1941. Chairman, National Collegiate United States Olympic Fund Campaign, 1952;Retired in 1954. adminstrator of college physical education and athletic programs, 1915-1956. Entered politics in 1956
