Biographical Sketch:
Emergency room physician. In 1981, DeWeese went on a study tour of health care systems in Britain, the Ivory Coast of West Africa, Yugoslavia, Canada and the United States. From 1981-85, he served his residency in Internal Medicine at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids. From 1985-87, he was in the Department of Internal Medicine at Health Central. From 1987-98, he was appointed as assistant medical director to the emergency department staff at the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital. He continued his position in emergency medicine at Owosso Memorial Medical Center and served as past vice chair of the Ingham County Board of Health. member of the Rottary Club; board member for Habitat for Humanity; founder of TEACH Michigan; part of Medical Access Project.

Notable Facts:
In 1989, Dr. DeWeese spearheaded the creation of the Medical Access Project – administered by the Capitol Area Red Cross – to provide basic medical care to the indigent. In July 2015, his medical license was suspended during FBI investigation related to drug distribution/prescriptions.
