Biographical Sketch:
He was born in Maine, resided in his youth in Vermont, and grew to manhood in New York (1806- about 1820). He went to Missouri in 1820, moving to Michigan in October, 1822, and locating on a farm 2 miles southwest of Rochester. He was one of the first land owners in Avon twp, about 1824. He was justice of the peace in 1824 in Rochster, MI. In 1828, William Burbank began the manufacture of chairs and furniture.

Notable Facts:
"The first school-house built in Rochester was erected in 1828, by Gad Norton and William Burbank."
