Biographical Sketch:
He came to Michigan in 1836, and was one of the first settlers in Handy, Livingston Co. In 1847, as State Senator, he cast the deciding vote that moved the state capital from Detroit to Lansing. Soon after, he became a resident of Lansing. In 1852 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Baltimore. He had a farm of 1,700 acres in Livingston Co.
Notable Facts:
He drafted and supported the bill by which capital punishment was abolished in Michigan.
