Biographical Sketch:
He was brought to Eaton County, Mi by his parents, Daniel and Elizabeth Hannah (Levens) Dickinson, in 1860. After high school, he taught school for 19 years. He was principal of Potterville High School. He was interested in farming, fruit-growing, stock-raising and was a stockholder in the First National Bank of Charlotte and the Duplex Truck Company of Lansing and Charlotte. He was trustee of the Eaton M.E. Church and a member of the Grange and the Knights of Pythias. He served on the County Committee for 24 years, was Assessor of the school district for 11 years, town clerk and superintendent and supervisor of schools.

Notable Facts:
Lt. Governor of Michigan, 1915-20, 1927-32, 1939. On the death of Gov. Frank Fitzgerald, Dickinson became Governor and served from 1939-41. During his office, a Civil Service Code was adopted, the Michigan National guard was mobilized to serve in WW II and public school teachers were required to take an oath of allegiance to the government. He was defeated in his own bid for office. Served in both chambers.
