He worked in a printing office in McBain in 1902. In 1904 he changed his occupation to that of clerk in a general store. In 1907 he became a member of the firm Hughston & Co., for whom he was clerking, and has been the buyer and manager. Served as supervisor of the city of McBain, and has served on the board of education.
