Biographical Sketch:
Son of Thomas Verne and Ida (Baxter) Wreford. His father died when he was very young and he was reared by his grand parents. His first business undertaking was as a reporter on the Detroit Free Press from 1905 to 1910. For about 3 years he was interested in the automobile business and then took up commercial secretary work. He was with the Detroit Board
of Commerce for 3 years as industrial commissioner and in other posi-
tions, and then became secretary of the Detroit Brick Manufacturers Asso-
ciation, for 3 years, resigning to accept the post of secretary for the Michigan U.S. Public Service Reserve, serving also as industrial adviser to the district
draft board for the state of Michigan during the World war. He was elected secretary of the National Retail Furniture Association where he served for 5 years. In 1913 he was elected as a member of Detroit's charter commission, which completed the first revision of the cities charter. During WWI, he served as secretary of the U.S. public reserve for Michigan. Was president of William B. Wreford & Company, Inc., brokers, and executive-secretary of the Detroit Property Owners Association. He was a member of the Detroit Athletic Club, the Detroit Yacht Club, the Noontime Club and the Port Huron Golf and Country Club.
