Biographical Sketch:
Son of Rev. William W. and Martha A (McIntyre) Wetmore. His early life was spent in Illinois, Michigan and New York. He moved to Ann Arbor in 1881 and entered high school; moved to Plymouth in 1882 and graduated from the high school, 1885; resided at Jonesville from 1886-88; entered the law department of the University of Michigan in October, 1888, receiving the degree of LL. B. in 1890 and the degree of LL. M. in 1891. He began the practice of law at Cadillac, September, 1891. He was appointed city attorney of Cadillac in 1896, serving 5 years, and again in that capacity from 1904-06; elected prosecuting attorney of Wexford County 3 successive terms, 1900-1906. U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, 1910-14, 1930-33, 1937. He also served as probate judge. He was a member of several fraternal orders, serving 5 years as Grand Master Workman of the Ancient Order of United Workmen [A. O. U. W.]; and was an officer of the Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias. Member of the Cadillac Rotary Club.
