Biographical Sketch:
Of English and German descent. Son of Myron and Sinna [or Lucinda] (Libhart) Beeman. Moved to Erie Co., PA when young. He was on his own at 15 and relocated to Cass Co., MI in 1856 and worked as a carpenter. He enlisted as a private in the 19th Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Company G in 1863; he was wounded at Resaca, GA requiring an 8 month recovery, before returning to the field. He was discharged in Jackson, MI in August 1865. He moved briefly to Kansas in 1867 but returned to Newburg. He served as township treasurer, 2 years; supervisor for 14 years and county treasurer for 2 terms. He was school director for 18 years. Member of the GAR.
