Biographical Sketch:
Son of David (1769-1829) and Isabel (Brush) Walbridge (1771-1804). Moved to NY in 1820 and engaged in hardware mercantile & agricultural pursuits at Geneseo from 1820-1826 & at Jamestown from 1826-1842; moved to Kalamazoo, MI in 1842 after establishing business that supplied wheat flour to the Eastern States. He became a large landowner & stock raiser. He served as supervisor, 1845; appointed postmaster of Kalamazoo by President Johnson.
Notable Facts:
Served in both state chambers.
He was the chairman of the first Republican Convention held "under the oaks' in Jackson.
Elected as a Republican to the 34th-35th Congresses (3/4/1855-3/3/1859)
