Biographical Sketch:
Of English ancestry. Son of Benjamin and Polly (Whedon) Waites. He settled in Scio, MI in 1839. He served as supervisor of Scio Twp, [1843-51], superintendent of the poor in Washtenaw County for about 20 years. He was president of the Washtenaw County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. for 4 years and was a delegate to Michigan state constitutional convention, 1850. He moved to Dexter in 1868.
