Biographical Sketch:
Of Irish descent. Son of Thomas and Mary Jane(Kean) Clarken. Enlisted in the US Navy, with the Michigan State Naval Brigade, at the beginning of the Spanish American War, assigned to the US Steamer Yosemite. he was prominent in the labor movement. He acted as business agent for the Molder's International Union; general organizer and vice president of teh Brass Molder's International Union; and of the Metal Polisher's District Council.
