Son of John and Maria S. (Platt) Combs. He moved to Michigan in 1838 and settled in Rome, Lenawee Co. He began practicing medicine in Rome Township, Lenawee Co., MI, retiring in 1865. He served as school inspector, township clerk [several terms] and County Superintendent of the Poor [13 years].
