Biographical Sketch:
Born in Vermont. Son of Samuel Convis. Moved to Chautauqua Co., NY when young. He was a justice of the peace in NY; a brigadier-general of the state troops (not clear which state). He visited Michigan in 1832. Moved to Calhoun Co., MI, 1834, settling in what became Verona, MI. He served as a justice of the peace while living in Nwe York.Injured in a sleigh accident in the winter of 1837; died as a result of injuries. He was a Mason.
