Biographical Sketch:
He studied for the ministry but abandoned it ffor health reasons. He served as treasurer for University of Vermont at Burlington for several years. He later was connected to the Vermont Central Railroad until 1855. He moved to Detroit in 1866 and was engaged in a lumber business until 1860 when he became connected to the Detroit Bridge and Iron Works. He was president of the latter at the time of his death.
