Biographical Sketch:
Son of Johann C. and Catherine B. (Boehle or Beckley) Netting. At 11 years of age, [around 1880] he came to the United States and located in Pontiac, MI. In April 1888, he went to Detroit, where he worked for 7.5 years at the chandelier and tiling business, starting on his own account in January, 1896. He became head of the Barton-Netting Company in 1905, which was later changed to the C. J. Netting Company. He was the head of this company until the fall of 1923, when he became interested in the Netting Land Company, builders of high grade workmen's homes in Detroit.
