1/1/1862 is actual DOB. Died in 1948. According to House Resolution No.5. 1948 House Journal, p. 19, he died 2/7/1948. With his parents at the age of four years, moved to a farm in Isabella County. At age fifteen began teaching school and continued to teach for the next six years. He then was in the mercantile business in Mt. Pleasant for 25 years. He served as city treasurer four years; mayor, two years; county treasurer, four years.
