Biographical Sketch:
Son of Charles and Eliza (Bettit) Nichols.Started his business career by selling papers for the Detroit Free Press while still in school. He then went on the road with a show. His desire led him to become a sailor, and he served as mate, master and vessel owner. He then started railroading with the Michigan central and rose to be cashier at Detroit. He has followed various lines of work, in 1887 owning and operating a vessel. Later he became connected with the Merchants and Manufacturers National bank, also Detroit National and First National banks. He retired from the banking business in 1925. He served on the Detroit board of estimates 1904-1915, and was president of the board of supervisors 1925-1926.
