Biographical Sketch:
Son of Bela and Ruth (Rugg) Davis. At 11, he and his mother moved to Covington, NY. In 1824, he moved to Shelby Township in Macomb Co., MI and purchased a farm. He was appointed associate justice of the county court by the governor in 1826. He moved to Macomb Township in 1832; elected county sheriff in 1838. He was postmaster for 23 years; justice of the peace for 24 years He was the first probate judge in Macomb County. Member of the Masons
