His postoffice address was Grandville. He served as Georgetown Township supervisor, 1857-58. He began lumbering in 1851 and built a large steam saw mill on Grand River in 1856 [it burned down the first time in 1864]. He was one of the early settlers of the Grand river valley, but about 1889 removed to Pentwater.
