Biographical Sketch:
He was a native of Salem, CT. Son of Charlott (or Shurlott or Sherlott) and Sally (Miner) Chapel. The family moved to Genesee County, NY in 1829 and in 1832 to Michigan Territory in Sandstone township. He served as Spring Arbor township supervisor, 1835 and Sandstone township for several terms. His post office was Gidley's Station in 1853.
