Biographical Sketch:
As editor, named the Grand Rapids Enquirer, in 1841. In 1842, he became prosecuting attorney for one year; was one of the prosecutors in the first murder trial in Kent Co., 1843. Johnson was an insurance agent, newspaper editor, lawyer and politician as in those days no lawyer could earn enough by practice of his profession to live. In 1852, he moved to Washington, D. C.
