Son of Joseph and Martha Knight. Moved with his parents from New York to Ohio at age 15. One of the founders of Eaton Rapids. Erected a saw mill there and built 3 houses and a grist mill. Appointed postmaster in 1838. In 1852, he went to California for 2 years, returning to Michigan in January 1854. He died a year later
