Biographical Sketch:
Born in New York state, Denton came to Ann Arbor in July 1826, where he practiced medicine until his death in 1860. He was a delegate from Washtenaw County to the Second Convention of Assent, 1836 and a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Michigan, 1837-1840. In 1845-46 and 1847-48, he served as State Senator from the Second District. Professionally, Denton was also a professor of medicine at the University of Michigan from its organization in 1850 until his death. From 1851-1853 and again from 1857-1858, Denton Served as the Dean of the Medical School.

Notable Facts:
First physician in Ann Arbor and a member of the State Historical Society. He also served as president of the State Medical Association and was a regent of the University of Michigan from 1837-1840.
