Received his education in the schools of Seneca township, Lenawee county and Fayette Normal in Fayette, Ohio.
Biographical Sketch:
In 1893 he was engaged as a clerk in a bank in Morenel, afterwards acting as casher, He was one of the organizers of he First National Bank of Morenel, spending ten years actively engaged in the business. Owned and operated several farms in Lenawee county and northern Ohio. Held the offices of justice of the peace and county road commissioner.

Republican and was elected to the legislature in 1924 and 1926, and re-elected November 6, 1928, by a vote of 14,588 to 4,554 for Frank Flory.
