Son of Joseph and Mary Ann (Lay) Holman. He came to Michigan in December, 1866. He served in the 126th Pennsylvania Volunteers and Mississippi Squadron. He practiced law in Rochester, MI. He was living in Avon Township, Oakland Co., in 1900
