Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Zoa (Eaton) Delamater. He began teaching at 16 and taught and farmed, in Madison County, NY, until 1834. He moved to Columbia, MI, where he bought a farm, in 1834. He was elected Jackson County surveyor in 1837 and served in that position for 12 years. He was the first supervisor of Columbia Township and served several terms. He was Jackson County Pioneer Society president 1880-81.
