Biographical Sketch:
Born in NY City, Dickinson traveled abroad for three years after leaving school in 1846. Returning to the US in 1850, he studied to be amining engineer. Dickingson moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 1851 and lived on Ontonagon and Houghton counties. He then moved to Eagle River in Keweenaw County in 1856 and served as Senator from the 32nd district from 1859-60. In 1870, Dickinson moved to Marquette, Michigan and eleven years later, he left the state for a move to Commonwealth, Wisconsin. Politically, Dickinson was first a Whig and then a Republican and held town and county offices in each county in which he resided.

Notable Facts:
He was mine agent for the Quincy Mining Company near Hancock, Michigan from 1855-1856.
