Biographical Sketch:
Of Scotch-Irish descent. 12th child of John & Rhoda (Varnum) Dickey. Sold fanning mills. Moved to Michigan, settling in Marshall, 3/1836. In 11/1836, commissioned Lt-Colonel in the militia of Calhoun Co. Sheriff of Calhoun Co., 1842-6. President of the State Agricultural Societyin 1858-59. Appointed US Marshal by Pres. Lincoln, 1861. Appointed probate judge 10/13/1873. Mayor of Marshall 2 terms.
Notable Facts:
In 1838, he bought the first wool sold in southern Michigan.
Charter member of the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Society.
