Biographical Sketch:
Of English ancestry. Son of George and Augusta D. (Johnson) Barnes. Graduated from Howell HS, then U of M in 1906. Named Postmaster by Pres. Taft. He was business manager for the Flint Daily Press when it began publication in 1912. Was appointed Postmaster by President Taft on January 1, 1910, a position he resigned after he sold the Bellvue Gazette and moved to Flint.
