Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish ancestry. Son of Robert N. and Jean (Gray) McKay. In the spring of 1866, Mr. McKay moved to a farm of his own in the township of Armada, and the next year began breeding shorthorn cattle, his specialty for 30 years. In 1900, he moved to Romeo. He was a member of the Armada Agricultural Society for a number of years, serving as its president for 4 years. He was also a member of the executive committee of the State Agricultural Society for 10 years; and served as treasurer of the society. He also served as president of the Macomb County Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Company, 10 years; first vice president of the Romeo Savings Bank; and member of the State Live Stock Sanitary Commission for 9 years and on the executive Board of the State Short-horn Breeder's Association.
