Biographical Sketch:
Son of John W. and Betsey E. (Davis) Sharp. February 2, 1865, just 15 days before he was 16 years of age, he enlisted in the 196th regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He moved to Michigan around 1872. He served as township clerk, justice of the peace and was supervisor of Ashland township 13 successive years. He also served as sheriff of Newaygo county for 1 term.

Notable Facts:
He was 1 of 5 brothers, all of whom served in the Civil War, all survived.
